Poem: Lady of the Weather

Here tears cascade down to the earth below

soaking the dry, hungry, aching soil

Her voice brings the wind to howl and blow

her rage heard in the thunder that roils

or seen in the luminescent coils

that light up the dark sultry summer night

touching down to earth with burning bite

Quick as it started her rage starts to wane

exhausted of her will, strength and her might

She lets her tears fall softly as the rain

Poem: Six Little Myna Birds

Six Little Myna Birds

Six little myna birds fly by at speed

Racing to claim their turf or get their feed.

Five little myna birds swoop to the ground

What do you suppose their sharp eyes have found?

Four little myna birds chasing a grow

Size matters not, the birds will have a go.

Three little myna birds splash in the pool

In summer heat they know how to keep cool.

Two little myna birds eyeing a lunch

Then chase folks away to have a quick munch.

One little myna bird sitting all alone

‘Gainst the setting sun he flies away home.

When My Love Was Elfshot (a Sonnet)

He was pierced through the heart by my long held foe
He fell to the floor in a twilight haze
From and elf was the arrow, the enchanted bow
Did make him descend to a horrid craze
Wrent was the night by my anguished cries
The moon shivered to see my condition
But tears, pain and tormented sighs
Could not save him from his affliction

I left him then, to forge a medicine
Some nettle, some plantain and sweet feverfew
Some wine and he’ll come back to me
Though while I went a gaze looked in
And pulled him neath the eldest yew
Now my love is nowhere to see.

The Last Heat of Autumn

Autumn arrives slow
The rain is barely noticed
The heat is still too strong

But darkness will come
The light dims on the landscape
As the sun grows week

On the wings of wind
The winter herald arrive
The cold ones gain rule

The dark season starts
With the loss of the Sun’s might
Then winter begins.

Bring in the Dark Season

With the hanging of the autumnal wreath
The light begins to fade away
Summer calms and sheathes its teeth

The season is in the air we breathe
A faint whiff can be smelled of decay
With the hanging of the autumnal wreath

The wind is so supple and lithe
Stalking warmth as though it is prey
Summer calms and sheathes its teeth

The leaves fall and cover the heathe
Red and gold glamorous fill the shortening days
With the hanging of the autumnal wreath

The lengthening nights do bequeathe
Wisdom for those who will pray
Summer calms and sheathes its teeth

The wild host starts to fidget and seethe
The map of the stars shows the way
With the hanging of the autumnal wreath
Summer calms and sheathes its teeth.

When the Door Disappeared

The Door
I know I left it somewhere
It was here a moment ago

Trapped
There is no point in a flare
If I die here no one will know

Foiled
Someone pretending to care
A barbed hand and eyes all aglow

Destined
It is the song in the air
It is the river’s current flow

Joyful
Do the sweet lambs ever care
Of their death, are they in the know

Resigned
I meet the fairy’s hard stare
He smiles cause he knows I can’t go

Rejected
The forest folk stop all the glare
They all see me as a foe

Forlorn
I couldn’t not bear to leave there
He dragged me wailing with woe

Finished
I will feed the nightmare
The dirt is my final pillow.

Spring Shoots

By open bright flame

May the sun return to us

May new life renew

Breath deep the spring air

Feel your soul awaken

Feel the darkness fade

Push through the soil

Stretch your roots outward and wide

Push your leaves upwards

The cold wind drowns out

The heat of coming summer

But we see it still

The trees are awake again

The wheel forever turns

Ode to the Field

To the Tuntre sprawling high and proud

To the beings in residence here

To the quiet ones as well as the loud

To the ones that love us dear

Through Sunna’s journey so bright

You are with me and I am with you

May victory guide our track.

Through Mani’s vigil at night

You are with me and I am with you

May home always lead us back.
