Life Update

Life has been a full-on rollercoaster of late. At times I feel swamped with the number of things I’ve taken on as projects, and then I remember that’s how I best operate.

I am nearly ready to submit my first short story to a publisher. I am incredibly nervous about this, as even though I have published a number of articles, workbooks and creative retellings, my original fiction is something I have not yet published.

That being said, I have three short stories nearing completion. If I am lucky, they will even be ready by the due date on the call for submission. So far one of the stories has the nod of approval from my reading panel (my family), the other two need a bit more polishing before they get to read them.

I have also taken on the project of suburban homesteading. Our chicken coop is nearing completion, and the veggie garden is ready for winter veg to get planted. The weather has finally decided Southeast Queensland can have Autumn; we may even experience it for a full month before winter sets in. I for one am looking forward to the cooler weather coming up. The summer season saw a good round of beans and cherry tomatoes, but the rest of the garden was more of a learning lesson.

My eldest child is in her final year of high school and getting more adult like by the day. I am both excited and nervous about this, but that’s standard for any parent. This final year is keeping us on our toes and getting ready to homeschool the little one just adds to the chaos. But its a good chaos.
